AKATZ in Mexico

The wait is over and the ‘curse’ has been broken in style! AKATZ has just crossed the pond to reconquer Mexican lands, and what we are seeing on social media is a huge dose of fun and an epic welcome from the ‘phlegmatic’ (but very enthusiastic) Aztec fans.

Last Thursday, 19 February 2026, Puebla surrendered to the rhythm. Beat 803 was the epicentre of a sonic earthquake. From the first chord, it was a night of frenzied dancing and boundless energy. The atmosphere was heated up by the Mexican Nutty Stompers, Los Desiertos and the rhythms of Padrino Arriaga, leaving the dance floor ready for Akatz to show why they are the masters of the genre.

Yesterday, Saturday 21 February, the band headlined the legendary Ska Wars festival, sharing the stage with heavyweights such as Out Of Control Army and Skapital Sound. It was, without a doubt, the most eagerly awaited performance of the festival. The band deployed a musical arsenal that mixed their all-time classics with new gems from their recent work, ‘A GO GO 3’, keeping intact that elegant essence of European ska that makes them unique.

The event was so successful that the party continued at the ‘Aferrafter Party’ at McCarthy’s Irish Pub in Naples. It was a golden opportunity to hang out with the band and enjoy guest DJs in a more intimate setting.

Akatz has returned to Mexico, and it is clear that the connection between Bilbao and Mexico is stronger than ever!
