PENADAS POR LA LEY: 30th anniversary of “Sexo Debil?”

Today, D8 Sorkuntza Faktoria is hosting a concert to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of the first vinyl album by the Bilbao-based Argentine band PENADAS POR LA LEY.

The event promises to be a great success, with a long list of guests who are sure to turn the occasion into a fun-filled party.

Penadas por la Ley is an iconic feminist punk rock band from La Plata, Argentina, which has been based in Bilbao since 2001. Founded in July 1993, they distinguished themselves by being the first all-female punk band to record an album in their native country. Their music is characterised by a combative and protest message, focused on the fight against sexist violence and gender equality. After their arrival in the Basque Country, the band quickly became part of the local scene, attracted by the network of gaztetxes (youth clubs) and the Basque punk scene. Their anthem ‘No es No’ (No Means No) has established itself as an international benchmark in feminist protest music.

Guns of Brixton Records has released three albums by the band: Hirugarrena (2014), Malos Tiempos para la Libertad (2017) and Iraultza Gara (2021).

To mark the occasion, the digital newspaper NAIZ has published an interesting interview with Fabiana and Natalia, which you can read at this link, or by clicking on the image below.
