The North East Ska*Jazz Orchestra presents its first LP, *Stompin’ And Rollin’*, which features ten reinterpretations of jazz and swing classics, performed in the Jamaican style of the 1960s, ranging from early ska to rocksteady and reggae. With this album, the big band from the Triveneto region (north-east Italy) has sought to convey its own spirit through the warmth of Jamaican music, enriched by the elegance of swing-era dance music.
Among the tracks on *Stompin’ And Rollin’* are two notable collaborations: Mr T-Bone (Africa Unite, Bluebeaters) and Olly Riva (Shandon, Olly Riva & The Soul Rockets), who join the vocals of Freddy Frenzy, Rosa Mussin and Michela Grena, alongside the ten wind instruments and the rhythm section of this young big band.
NES*JO were able to self-produce this album thanks to an extraordinary crowdfunding campaign run on musicraiser.com.
The album was recorded at Studio Jork in Koper (Slovenia) in March 2015 and mixed and mastered at The Volcano Lounge, Sherman Oaks (California) by Brian Dixon (formerly of The Aggrolites).
