The Jah Jazz Orchestra is a group of jazz musicians active on the European scene, particularly in Switzerland and France, who return to the roots of ska – initially, and in a nutshell, the Jamaican interpretation of American jazz and rhythm and blues – to offer their own blend of groove, improvisation and big-band arrangements.

This debut album revisits compositions by jazz legends such as Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Dizzy Gillespie and Joe Henderson, whilst also featuring two classics from The Skatalites’ repertoire (‘Ska La Parisienne’ and ‘King Solomon’). The original arrangements take them through sounds ranging from classic ska to reggae, via rocksteady, but always with a strong influence from Jamaican jazz and artists such as The Skatalites, Ernest Ranglin and Jazz Jamaica…

Beyond this diversity, the unity of *Introducing Jah Jazz Orchestra* is defined by its very title: it introduces the listener to a new band with a distinctive sound. A powerful horn section capable of building colossal walls of sound, whilst also delivering intricate harmonic lines and fierce solos. A rhythm section as solid as a rock that knows exactly when to react interactively.
