Benjammin’ was born in London in 1970 and put down roots and grew up in Brighton, where, at the age of 13, he became hooked on roots reggae. He began singing and MCing with local reggae sound systems in the late 1980s and, over the following decade, devoted himself to developing his versatile vocal style, whilst also playing the saxophone and flute in a funky style. He performed in dancehalls across the UK, singing and playing over roots, lovers and ragga beats. He was also a co-founder of the highly acclaimed Roots Garden Club.

Benjammin’ moved to Barcelona in 1994, where he flourished and continued to spread his soulful and uplifting sounds whilst performing and recording with artists, bands and sound systems across continental Europe. He has featured, amongst others, on albums released by: Professor Angel Dust, The Pepper Pots, Lone Ark, Ambassah, Beat Nation, Roty 340, Gravsound…

So ‘Rise Up’ is Benjammin’s long-awaited debut album, recorded in collaboration with Roberto Sanchez, Doctor N ric, Hermano L, Juanga and Brixton Records.
