Guitarist Alberto Tarín is by no means a newcomer. He is well known for having been the official guitarist with the NEW YORK SKA-JAZZ ENSEMBLE for many years, and for being a six-string virtuoso sought after by major pop and reggae stars.

One of his public passions is to bring to the realm of reggae songs in styles that, at first glance, seem far removed from Jamaican sounds. The result of this endeavour was the three albums in the Jazzin’ Reggae series (and one in collaboration with the legendary singer Dave Barker) released by Brixton Records.

He now takes up the challenge once more with the group ALBERTO TARÍN & ORCHESTA, delving deeper into the instrumental essence of reggae and the challenge of fusing reggae with styles that are, at first glance, seemingly at odds with it. Eight instrumental tracks and two stellar collaborations with dazzling vocalists – the legendary Dave Barker and Payoh Soul Rebel – make up this debut album by Alberto Tarín & Orchestra. The line-up of musicians is breathtaking: Larry McDonald, Fred Reiter, Rafa Villalba, Kevin Batchelor… and the passion for expressing life through jazz, soul and, above all… jazz-reggae.
