The first compilation album released by Brixton Records, and a little taste of what we were doing in our early days. Focusing basically on old-school ska and rocksteady, this CD is, in a way, the seed of what Brixton Records is today. The cover artwork is inspired by the famous mid-1960s album Brixton Cat, and the music is the result of blending a new generation of musicians with old-school vibes. It doesn’t matter where you come from, it doesn’t matter if you are black or white (there is a mix of cultures in every single band), and it doesn’t matter if you play ska, rocksteady, or roots; if you respect your past, your future will be much clearer.
Two tracks per band and six bands in total: THE STARLITES; TTAK! (from Donostia, playing top-quality roots reggae and with many gigs under their belt – R.I.P.); PROYECTO SECRETO; THE PEEPING TOMS; AKATZ; and THE CYPRINIDIANS (a young band from Bermeo that experienced the harsh reality of the Immigration Law firsthand – R.I.P.).
