The Pepper Pots were formed in the sweltering summer of 2002 with the aim of reviving the sound and style of Jamaican bands from the 1960s. Within just half a year of forming, they decided to enter the studio for the first time and record what would become their first ‘demo’. Thanks to this, they had the opportunity to share the stage with great artists of the genre such as Laurel Aitken, Winston Francis and Dave Barker…

It was not until late 2004 that the band truly established itself, having matured musically through the addition of new members. It was then that The Pepper Pots, featuring a female vocal trio, returned to the studio to record their first LP, *Swingin’ Sixties*, released by Brixton Records. An album that reflects the wide range of sounds that swept across Jamaica during the 1960s and 1970s: ska, rocksteady, reggae and soul.

With meticulous attention to every last detail and a carefully crafted image, they demonstrate that, despite living in an age of musical standardisation, it is possible to return to the simplicity and freshness of the classic sound.
